Theo Wanne developed metalworking skills as a youth and later studied saxophone and mouthpiece refacing under master refacer Bob Carpenter. In 1999, he founded “Saxophone Mouthpiece Heaven,” a business that sold vintage saxophones and mouthpieces and provided refacing services to top musicians like Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Grover Washington Jr.. This extensive experience studying and modifying vintage designs led to his deep understanding of mouthpiece acoustics and a reputation as a world expert.
In 2005, Wanne produced his first handmade, original-design mouthpiece, the AMMA. The official company, Wanne, Inc., was registered in 2007, and it was then that the first production version of the AMMA was released, incorporating several patents and advanced manufacturing processes.
Today, Theo Wanne mouthpieces are known for blending classic designs with cutting-edge technology and are manufactured in a purpose-built facility in Bellingham, WA, USA.
