Jody Jazz was founded in 2000 by musician and educator Jody Espina after a career playing professionally and teaching, including at Berklee College of Music. The company began in New York before moving to Savannah, Georgia, in 2008, where it established a factory to ensure high-quality control over its saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces. Jody Jazz has since grown to become a premier manufacturer and has expanded its brands by acquiring Chedeville in 2018 and Rousseau in 2020.

The company emphasizes quality control, with each mouthpiece being hand-finished and play-tested. The manufacturing process uses a combination of hand-filing and machine-controlled techniques to ensure precision. Today, Jody Jazz mouthpieces are used by musicians worldwide and the company has grown significantly. In 2023, Jody was inducted into the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame.
