Claude Lakey was a jazz musician and bandleader who became a renowned saxophonist and later founded the Claude Lakey Mouthpieces company around 1963. He played with big bands, served in the Army, and helped establish the University of North Texas’s jazz program, where he directed the original One O’Clock Lab Band. His experience as a musician led him to create mouthpieces that offered greater projection and volume, and his company continues his legacy today.

Inspired by Claude’s original innovations, taking something standard and crafting it into something exceptional — today’s Lakey company is inspired to continue tradition of making the best mouthpiece possible. As the company continues to grow through this current decade, they plan more products created with the same determination to challenge the status quo and forge a new path to help you achieve your best sound.
