Terms and Acronyms
IORG – International Organization of the Rainbow for Girls
Assembly – Is defined as; a company of persons gathered for deliberation and legislation, worship or entertainment. Each individual Rainbow group is called an Assembly. We are Assembly Hope #82.
Ritual – The book of ceremonies containing the spoken word and accompanying floorwork primarily used for the opening and closing of business meetings, and the initiation of new members. Every Rainbow Assembly throughout the world uses the same Ritual to ensure that meetings are uniform across all assemblies.
Grand Assembly (GA) – Is a several day event where members of all Florida Assemblies gather and ritual work is performed by the Grand Officers (officers elected or appointed at the state level). It is also a time for girls to meet and have fun with members of other assemblies throughout the state.
Grand Representative – A girl appointed by the Grand Executive Board to represent Florida and correspond with the Grand Representative from the State or country she is assigned and to submit a report. This is a great way to keep Rainbow girls around the world connected.
Grand Officer – Every year at Grand Assembly a new group of girls from the local Assemblies are elected / appointed as state or Grand officers. The offices parallel the local assemblies.
Supreme Assembly – The governing body of Rainbow is the House of Gold. New members are elected by current members. The House of Gold consists of the Supreme Officers (paralleling a local Assembly), Supreme Inspectors (chief advisor for a jurisdiction), and several others making up a total of 50 lifetime appointments.
Supreme Deputy / Supreme Inspector – Are the chief Advisor for a jurisdiction (state of Florida). A retiring Supreme Inspector will appoint her successor choosing the person whom they believe can best associate with the members of her jurisdiction. It isn’t until Supreme Deputies are elected into the House of Gold that they become Supreme Inspectors. There are 50 seats in the House of Gold, and they are lifetime appointments. A Supreme Deputy is eligible for recommendation into the House of Gold after her 3rd Supreme Assembly after being installed as Supreme Deputy (the Supreme at which they are installed does NOT count).
Jurisdiction – The area over which the Supreme Deputy / Supreme Inspector presides. Our jurisdiction is the State of Florida.
Order – A group of people united in a formal way.
